Level 1 Prep

68 days until Level 1

13 days until COMSAE

My focus over the past few months has shifted a little bit from school and maintaining grades to focusing on board prep.  I haven’t been keeping up with my scorecards because checking off boxes hasn’t been doing much for me. I might need to get back until to for the sole purpose of holding myself accountable.

My board prep started over Christmas with me going through all B&B neuro and all of Uworld neuro. Then once school started I would watch 2 sketchys a day and try to keep up with PQ’s on Uworld. The idea being that I would save True Learn until now, which I am not sure was a good idea because one of my weak spots that I’ll talk about later is OMT.

So I have been getting ready for level 1, and my school has been doing its best to freak us all out and scare us into studying. Which has worked, but I don’t think they’ve gone about it in the best way possible. Anyways they require us to get a 450 on the upcoming COMSAE and then be consistently scoring around 60% on random timed 44 question blocks on Truelearn. These standards seem to be similar from school to school which I have noted well during my doom scrolling sessions

3/27 – 47.7%

3/28 – 47.7%

4/12 – 47.7%

4/12 – 63.6%

4/18 – 47.7%

4/19 – 54.5%

4/19 – 45.5%

4/19 – 50%

overall percent correct – 56.9%

42nd percentile

844 questions completed

It has taken me this long to really get an idea of what I need to start working on specifically to improve upon. As of right nor the glaring insufficiency is OMT, then HIV drugs, brain tumors, Wallenberg syndrome, and epidemiology. I know a couple of those are pretty niche, but they somehow keep showing up and I keep getting them wrong.

but as far as how I’m feeling, I’m feeling the pressure, but I am feeling like I can turn things around and start making strides to get those percentages up. I keep thinking about the people in my class that I know are in good shape right now, but I’m going to keep my mind focused on myself and focus on my improvement.
